Ambassador Weert Börner and Dr. Imke Börner paid a courtesy visit to Dato Dr. Haji Norarfan Zainal, Rector of the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA). At the same time, UNISSA arranged a meeting with leading members of UNISSA management and of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Faculty of Law, represented by the Dean of the Law Faculty, Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Masum.

It was a very fruitful and interactive meeting, including intercultural exchange on university structures and legal systems. Another focus was to discuss the opportunities for Bruneian-German cooperation in connection with the still rather new UNISSA Faculty of Agriculture (founded in 2021). Both countries, especially in times of political uncertainties and climate change, have to join forces in providing food security to their respective populations and beyond.
