Last week, Ambassador Weert Börner received Mr. Kai-Henning Vathje, CEO of thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions Brunei Sdn Bhd, from the German company that built the fertilizer factory now run by BFI (Brunei Fertilizer Industries). The two discussed the current developments in the global fertilizer and chemical industries, including the challenges and opportunities arising from the Iran crisis, including the long blockade of the Strait of Hormus. As BFI is on a great success path with its urea production, BFI and thyssenkrupp decided to continue their cooperation with a project on large-scale ammonia export, produced in Brunei. This will be another German contribution to Brunei’s economic diversification.
