Celebrating 35 years of the German Embassy in Brunei Darussalam
The German Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan celebrated its 35th anniversary with a lunch on December 3rd, 2020. The Embassy had been opened on July 3rd, 1985 by former Foreign Ministers of Brunei Darussalam and the Federal Republic of Germany, HRH Price Mohamed Bolkiah and Dr. Hans-Dietrich Genscher.
In her speech, German Ambassador Gerda Winkler praised the close bilateral relations between Brunei and Germany in many areas, as well as the wider regional partnership between the European Union and ASEAN. The event was attended by the Honourable Attorney General Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, the Honourable Chief Justice, Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong, Brunei officials and foreign diplomats in Brunei as well as members of the German business community.
An exhibition highlighting 35 years of diplomatic relations complemented the Event.
