Last week, Ambassador Weert Börner and Dr. Imke Börner paid an official visit to the Centre for Strategic & Policy Studies (CSPS), Brunei’s leading think tank, founded in 2006. With Executive Director Dr. Diana Cheong and three more members of CSPS’ academic staff, the German ambassadorial couple discussed recent political and economic trends concerning Brunei, such as the regional shortages in energy supplies due to the Iran crisis and its complex effects on the price of energy, food, logistics and global production chains.
Another focus of the interactive and most informative exchange was to discuss several economic and social aspects of the recent “Brunei Darussalam Economic Outlook 2026”, one of the flagship publications of CSPS. This publication has been supporting the German Embassy to Brunei in defining the sectors in which potential contributions from German private companies in the near future might be most welcome.
